- All incoming students must demonstrate a strong commitment to medical research through prior research experience or quality references from university faculty members who can speak about the student’s potential as a researcher.
- The majority of research projects study the mechanisms of disease through a variety of approaches, from in vitro to animal and human studies, and/or the discovery of biomarkers to predict or detect disease.
- Our supervisors are national and international leaders in their fields.
- Our graduates are prepared to successfully enter their research careers, be it in academia or industry, or to pursue other careers where a strong biomedical knowledge is desired.
- We recruit trainees with undergraduate degrees in disciplines such as biology, biochemistry, physiology, genetics and medicine.
- We do not train physicians for careers in Clinical Pathology.
- We welcome trainees from under-represented groups.
